We are a God-glorifying community of disciples dedicated and involved in the life-long process of growing in Christ-likeness, living to reach those in our surrounding community and around the world. Jesus’ final words while on earth clearly express His mission and ours: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20) The apostle Paul, describing the ministry of the church, speaks to the necessity of the growth of each individual member of the body so that the church is able to function properly. …but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together, by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. (Ephesians 4:15-16) Growing of a community is accomplished through the establishment of a healthy root system and through the process of spiritual maturity. Reaching a community is accomplished when the healthy church bears fruit. To help us visualize our purpose as a body of believers we use a tree as an analogy. We look forward to you joining us as we grow more toward Christ-likeness and reach our community for Jesus Christ. Feel free to ask an Elder or pastor how you might plug in here at Our vision can be summarized with 4 phrases: WORSHIP | GROW | CONNECT | REACH Our purpose as a body of believers is best explained and visualized through the use of a tree as an analogy. The soil in which we are planted and firmly rooted is the soil of divine love; both God’s love for us in the gift of His Son as well as our love for Him. This multidirectional love is the highest pursuit of the believer in that it brings the greatest glory to the Father. This love supports, surrounds, and permeates every aspect of everything we do. (Eph. 3:17; 1 John 4:7-21; John 13:34-35) Our roots are the unique characteristics of the whole body, each ministry, and every person in the church body at CCC. These roots consist of four ministry emphases: Instruction—We are guided by, and committed to, studying and applying the truth of God’s Word in our daily lives. It is God’s complete revelation of Himself and His will to man. (Acts 2:42; 6:4; 1 Tim. 3:15, 4:13; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; Heb. 4:12) Intercession—We are dedicated to being a house of praying individuals. (Acts 2:42; 6:4; Isa. 56:7; 1 Thes. 5:17; Jas. 4:2b) Interaction—We are interdependently connected and are committed to maintaining intimate and accountable relationships with one another. (Acts 2:42; Heb. 10:24-25; Prov. 27:17; Rom. 12:10, 15; 1 Cor. 12:24b-26, 27) Incarnation—We are individually and congregationally concerned about manifesting the love of God in tangible ways within our relationships to those in need within our community and city. (Matt. 5:16; 25:31-46; Jas. 1:27; 2:14-17) As is true with trees, the strength and fruit-bearing capacity directly relates to the depth and firmness of the root system. In committing our church to maintaining healthy roots, we believe that the fruit will come as a result. We are commanded in Scripture to mature. The trunk of the tree represents the process of maturation that flows naturally from a solid root system. The trunk is built and dependent upon the roots. If we were to take a cross-section of the trunk and analyze it more carefully, we would find four stages. This represents a process that is always pursued, but never completed. (Eph. 4:14-16; Heb. 5:11-6:2; 2 Pet. 1:5-8) These stages are: Knowing—This step begins when a person comes to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The process of knowing God does not stop once someone is saved. This process of knowing continues throughout their entire life. Growing—Once someone is saved, they must commit themselves to certain disciplines which help to create an environment of growth in their life. This step in the process focuses on developing these disciplines in the life of every believer. Serving—We are interdependently connected to each other in Christ. Each believer has a role to play, a gift to utilize. This step in the process helps the members of our body to identify and apply their individual giftedness in the local body of CCC. Sharing—We must give our faith away. One of the fundamental goals of the church is to reach the lost. This would include personal evangelism training as well as opportunities for local and global, short-term and long-term missions. A natural result of a well-established root system and a maturing tree is fruit. The local church or believer who is abiding in Christ and who is living in submission to the leading of the LORD will produce fruit in the following areas: Abundant Living—The fruit of the Spirit’s presence. (John 10:10; 15:1-11; Gal. 2:22-23) Influence—On the world in which they live, work and minister. (Matt. 5:16; 7:20; John 13:34-35; 1 Pet. 2:12; 3:15-16)
