Our Statement of Faith
WE BELIEVE that there is one God, the Creator and the Preserver of all things, omniscient and omnipotent, infinite in being and perfection. He exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, who are of one essence and equal in power and in glory.
WE BELIEVE that God has revealed Himself to man in the Person of Jesus Christ, the Savior foretold in the Old Testament. He is fully God and fully Man, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, sinless in His life, making atonement by His death on the cross and vindicated by God in His bodily resurrection. He ascended to His Father's right hand, and we await His visible return to the world according to His promise.
WE BELIEVE that God is present in the world today in the Person of the Holy Spirit who draws us to faith in Jesus Christ and Who bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. He indwells the believer, which empowers him to manifest the likeness and character of Christ. He gives spiritual gifts to the church for our mutual edification.
WE BELIEVE that the sixty-six canonical books of the Bible as originally written are inspired of God, hence without error. They constitute the only infallible guide in faith and practice.
WE BELIEVE that man was created by God and in His image, free as to choice and responsible to his Creator. Tempted by Satan, he separated himself from God by voluntary transgression. As a consequence, all men are born with a sinful nature and have need of reconciliation with the Holy God.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ provided this reconciliation by His death on the cross for our sins. That death was a substitutionary sacrifice and all who place their faith in Him are justified by His shed blood and resurrection.
WE BELIEVE that the most important event since creation was the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. All the teachings of Christianity derive their validity from this historical fact and without it our faith is in vain.
WE BELIEVE that all who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit belong to the one true church, the body of Christ. The church's objectives are to take the good news to all men and to provide nourishment for spiritual growth. Believers in the fellowship share in teaching the Scriptures, observing the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord's Supper, and communion with one another.
WE BELIEVE in the personal return of Christ to earth in sovereign power and glory to establish His righteous rule, and look for a new heaven and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of all men and that those who are not justified by faith in Christ are ultimately separated from God forever, which is the second death.
WE BELIEVE that those who are justified by faith in Christ will be like Him and will live with God and enjoy Him forever.
Our Values
Centered on the GOSPEL: The gospel is the good news that Jesus has come to our rescue. Everything we do as a church is shaped by the powerful reality of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection (Rom. 1:16)
Submitted to SCRIPTURE: As God’s very Word, we embrace the Bible as the ultimate authority for what we teach, how we worship, and the way we live our lives (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
Invested in COMMUNITY: Growth happens best in Christ-centered community, and we’re committed to connecting people into authentic, transforming relationships (Heb. 10:24-25).
Living on MISSION: We’re joining Jesus in the great adventure of reaching our neighbors, our city, and our world with the transforming message of God’s saving grace (Matt. 28:18-20).
Devoted to the FAMILY: The family is fundamental to God’s plan for human flourishing, and so we aim to support, encourage, and build up healthy, God-centered families (Josh. 24:15).
Committed to UNITY IN DIVERSITY: We want the gospel’s power to be seen in the makeup of our church as the Holy Spirit brings together people from many walks of life into one unified body (Eph. 3:10).
Our Church Covenant
We, the members of Christ Community Church, join together in the fellowship of the gospel.
We covenant together, God helping us, to love one another, pray for one another, share each other’s joys, bear each other’s burdens, and help each other grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:12, Romans 12:15, Gal. 6:2, 2 Pet. 3:18).
We will put away all bitterness, anger, and evil speaking; and we will eagerly maintain the unity of the Spirit. We will be kind and tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave us (Eph. 4:3, 31-32).
We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together for worship and service. We will cherish the regular preaching and teaching of God’s Word and the faithful observance of baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Heb. 10:25, 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
We will honor those who have the spiritual responsibility for us in this church, and we will follow their loving leadership, even as they follow Christ (Heb. 13:17, 1 Cor. 11:1).
We will faithfully use our Spiritual gifts to serve and build up this church body (Romans 12:4-8, 1 Peter 4:10-11).
We will seek to live a biblical lifestyle, relying on the Holy Spirit’s power (1 Peter 1:14-16).
We will care for our families and raise our children in the training and instruction of the Lord (Deut. 6:7, Eph. 6:4).
We will be just in all our dealings, and good stewards of all that God has given us (Matt. 25:20-21).
We will give cheerfully and generously to the support of the church, the relief of those in need, and the spread of the gospel. (2 Cor. 9:6-7).
We will seek to win others to Christ by sharing the gospel and loving our neighbors well (Col. 4:5-6; Luke 10:36-37).
As we have the opportunity, we will do good to everyone, especially those who are of the household of faith (Gal. 6:10).
We will strive to carry out Christ’s commission to spread the gospel throughout the whole world (Matt. 28:18-20).
We will, when we move from this place, unite as soon as possible with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all (2 Cor. 13:14). Amen.
Our Story
Christ Community Church was established in 1952 by a traveling evangelist and five married couples. Its first building was located at 2555 North Stone Avenue. The church’s first outreach program was a radio ministry, which remained prominent in Tucson throughout the 1950s and 1960s. In 1972 the church vacated its Stone Avenue property and moved to the growing east side of Tucson. The church body contributed sacrificially toward the purchase of its present-day site in 1973 and construction of an auditorium and classrooms in 1976. The current Worship Center was completed in 1988. The Family Life Center was constructed in two phases and completed in 2005.
CCC stands out in Tucson for its timeless commitment to biblical preaching, its fervent love for Jesus, its emphasis on the family, its care for one another in the church, and its active ministry to the local community and all around the world.
